Treatments

At SP Sports Therapy, every treatment is designed to meet your individual needs. Whether you’re recovering from an injury, dealing with long-term pain, or aiming to enhance your athletic performance, I use a combination of proven techniques to help you move better, feel stronger, and live with less discomfort.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is much more than a simple muscle rub. Using deep tissue techniques, it can:

  • Help prevent injuries by addressing muscle tightness and imbalances
  • Speed up recovery after training or competition
  • Reduce pain from both acute injuries (sudden strains) and chronic conditions (long-standing issues)
  • Improve circulation, flexibility, and mobility

Suitable for athletes of all levels, as well as anyone experiencing everyday aches and stiffness.

Acupuncture & Dry Needling

Fine needles are used to target areas of tension, nerve irritation, or persistent pain. Benefits include:

  • Reducing muscle tightness
  • Relieving headaches and tension-related pain
  • Supporting healing when combined with sports massage
  • Helping conditions such as sciatica, back pain, and shoulder problems

Myofascial Cupping

A popular choice among athletes, cupping increases blood flow and releases tight tissue. Benefits include:

  • Breaking down scar tissue and adhesions
  • Reducing muscle stiffness and soreness
  • Improving mobility and recovery

Circular marks may appear on the skin for 7–10 days — this is normal.

Gait Analysis

Running places unique demands on the body. A professional gait analysis can:

  • Identify inefficient movement patterns and poor foot placement
  • Pinpoint causes of recurrent injuries
  • Improve running style, efficiency, and performance

Your gait will be filmed, analysed, and discussed. Practical rehabilitation exercises will also be provided.

Postural Assessment

Poor posture often causes back, neck, and shoulder pain. Assessment can:

  • Highlight shortened or weak muscles creating imbalances
  • Show how these affect movement and comfort
  • Provide targeted stretching and strengthening exercises

Neurospinal Assessment

Pain, tingling, or numbness in limbs can result from trauma, nerve compression, or disc issues. A neurospinal assessment can:

  • Investigate root causes of symptoms
  • Differentiate between nerve, muscle, and spinal problems
  • Guide effective treatment or referral if needed

Every treatment plan is personalised to your goals, whether that’s pain relief, injury recovery, or performance improvement.
